In 2006, I adopted Petey from a great local animal rescue in Sonoma County. During the adoption process, a volunteer mentioned that they could use more volunteers and foster parents so I signed up. I have been a volunteer ever since!
Volunteering continues to be a fun, rewarding, and sometimes heartbreaking and exhausting experience. Before I got involved I never realized the amount of time, energy, and resources that go into animal rescue. It is truly an amazing journey and many of the volunteers have become dear friends. Sometimes I feel that I get more out of the experience than the dogs.
Among many other great things, the rescue offered me the opportunity to develop my design skills. I designed their pamphlets, fliers, business cards and other marketing materials. While I enjoy the design aspect as well as actively participating in adoption events, what I truly enjoy more than anything else is fostering homeless dogs awaiting forever homes.

I don’t know how you do it. It breaks my heart to even go into a shelter. I think it’s great that you give these animals so much love. They deserve it.
Hey Kim its Robin, good for you for doing this for the animals. I have been doing it for Rabbits since 2003 and its very hard work but you get so much out of it. The animal knows you are there to help and love you for it. I do mostly rabbits but as you know, anything that need help get it. chickens pelicans and bluejays, dogs and cats. You go girl. Keep up the good work. love ya, Robin
