Dear Michael Vick,
A judge banned you from owning a dog until 2012. Honor that ruling. It’s only another year. You can wait.
You starved-to-death, beat, and heavily abused your dogs. Your plea of ignorance is a hollow excuse and a blatant lie. You tried to cover up your dog fighting operation from authorities. You knew it was illegal.
Your justification for wanting to appeal the dog ownership ban is that your children really want a dog. Most children want a dog, but you have an opportunity to show them how to take responsibility for their actions. You made a mistake and now you claim that you are working on redeeming your image by volunteering for The Humane Society. You should fulfill your punishment if you want to show the public that you are really a changed man.
Some may think it harsh, but I believe you should never own another animal as long as you live. At the very least wait until 2012 when your ban on dog ownership is lifted.
As my friend Lauren said, “Michael Vick asking to own a dog is like a convicted child abuser petitioning to be a foster parent.”
Do the right thing.
Kim

I cheer every time he gets nailed on the football field. It doesn’t happen enough, though. I agree, he shouldn’t be allowed to own any more pets, ever. It always makes me wonder when I hear about someone abusing animals, how do they treat their kids?
It’s a terrifying thought. I completely agree that how you treat animals is indicative of how you treat people. I’ve read quite a few articles about the link between Sociopaths and cruelty to animals. I hope his experience with the Humane Society has softened his view on all living creatures.
